Where can I get a Herpes test in Sligo?

Getting tested for Herpes in Sligo is easy with Better2Know.  Herpes Simplex Viruses (HSV) come in two strains. HSV 1, sometimes called Oral Herpes, causes cold sores around the mouth. HSV 2, also known as Genital Herpes, causes blisters, sores, and irritation around the genitals.  While a Herpes infection cannot be completely cured, antiviral medications can reduce its symptoms during outbreaks.

What happens if I test positive for STIs?

Better2Know will set up a consultation with a private doctor who will provide any medication and guidance you need to help clear your infection.  In the unlikely case that you test positive for an infection like Hepatitis B or HIV, you will be referred for specialist care.

Do not put off getting tested. The longer you wait, the more damage the infection can cause. Book your STI test now by choosing a clinic in Sligo from the map on this page.

Should I tell my partner if I test positive?

If you test positive for a sexually transmitted infection, you should let your sexual partners know. This will allow them to seek testing and treatment themselves.

However, telling a sexual partner that you have an STI can be problematic for some people.  To make this easier, Better2Know allows all our patients to inform their sexual partners anonymously about their test results. Using our Partner Notification system, available on your online Patient Area, you can anonymously alert your sexual partners of your diagnosis.

If you are struggling with the idea of STI testing, call the number at the top of this page to contact one of our trained Sexual Health Advisors in Sligo. They can talk to you about your situation and help you come up with the best possible course of action for your circumstances.
