What is a female hormone screen?
Our female hormone screen will assess whether you have a hormone imbalance which may affecting your fertility, mood, and menstrual cycle. This fast and easy screen only requires a few drops of blood from a finger prick.
Why consider a female hormone screen?
This screen is useful if you want to assess your level of important hormones or if you are experiencing:
- Irregular or heavy periods
- Weight gain
- Signs of fatigue and are concerned it may be due to the menopause or a thyroid concern
It is also useful if you are planning to get pregnant and want to check that your hormone levels are normal.
How does this screen work?
At a Better2Know clinic, we will take a blood sample from you. Once the blood sample is collected, we will send this to our fully accredited laboratory for analysis.
What tests will you run on my sample?
This female hormone screen will assess the levels of the following hormones:
- Luteinising Hormone (LH): Helps to control the menstrual cycle
- Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH): Important for egg production in the ovaries
- Prolactin: Important for reproductive health
- 17 beta-oestradiol: A form of the hormone oestrogen
How will I receive my female hormone screen results?
Your confidential female hormone screen results will be ready within one working day after your sample has arrived at our laboratory. You can access your results online by logging into your secure patient area on our website. Once all your results are ready, a member of our Patient Services team will contact you.
What should I do with my results?
If your results reveal abnormal levels for any of the above hormones, you should consult a doctor. A doctor may prescribe more testing or medication to ensure the success of treatment.
