Full STI Screen

Which STDs and STIs does the Full Screen test for?

The Better2Know Full Screen tests for:

  • HIV I/II and the p24 antigen
  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhoea
  • Syphilis
  • Hepatitis B
  • Ureaplasma
  • Mycoplasma

Is the Full STI Screen accurate?

The test for HIV types I and II and the p24 antigen (an early marker of HIV) is a very accurate test. It is said to be 99.8% accurate at 28 days after any incident you are concerned about, rising to 99.9% after 3 months.

How does this STI Screen work?

This test requires blood and urine samples that you collect at home with the kit provided. After you have bought your test online, we will post your discreet pack to your home (the postal pack is plain so no one will know what it is). Open the pack, where you will find a form, three finger prick lancets, a small gold-topped tube, a urine collection tube, wipes, and a return envelope. In addition, we will send you a copy of the sample collection instruction leaflet. The leaflet will give you instructions on how to collect your sample. It is important that you follow the instructions on the leaflet carefully. You will get an email when your results are ready, but you can log on and check online whenever you like.

When will my test arrive?

If you order your kit before 4pm Monday to Friday, we will post it to you on the same day. Depending upon where you live, your testing kit should arrive within 2 to 4 days.

How long before I get my results?

The results of your tests should be ready within five working days from when your sample arrives at the laboratory. You can log into your secure Patient Area to check the progress of your results whenever you like.

What happens if my STI test is positive?

We can arrange a consultation with one of our doctors so that you can discuss the results. We can also arrange for a prescription and to send you the required medication if you like. There will be a small fee for these services. You can also take your results to your own doctor.

If your HIV result is positive, we will call you and arrange for you to have a second test (which is included in the price). If your second test is positive, then we can help you decide where you want to be referred to for treatment, and any other support you need. This can include talking to an HIV specialist consultant and the Terrence Higgins Trust.

Is testing for STDs and STIs through Better2Know confidential?

Your results and details are completely confidential. We will not inform your doctor or anyone else without your permission.

How long should I wait after an encounter before getting a Full STI Screen?

You should wait at least 28 days since any incident you are concerned about before getting this STI Screen. If you test before this time, your tests may not be as accurate as they can be.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.

Q: What if I have any more questions?

You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
