What is Hepatitis B?

The Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) is spread through contact with infected saliva, blood, vaginal fluids, or semen. It causes a severe infection in the liver called Hepatitis B, which can result in serious health complications. A cure does not currently exist, but there are certain treatments which help manage this infection. It is also preventable by a course of Hepatitis B vaccinations.

Explain the Hepatitis B Immunity testing process?

Your test kit will include a blood sample, which can be taken at home using the tools in the kit. Once the sample is safely collected, you will then send in the sample to one of our accredited Ireland labs using the pre-paid postage envelope also included in the kit. Our team will quickly analyse your sample and provide accurate results regarding your health.

When does my testing kit arrive?

When you order your test kit before end of business hours Monday-Friday, your package will be sent out the same day. Your kit should reach you within 2 to 4 days via An Post.

How do I receive my results?

As soon as your results are ready, a member of our Patient Services team will immediately contact you via email or phone to relay your results. You are also able to check your secure patient portal on our website with your confidential login information. Once your results are ready, they will be available here.

What should I do about my test results?

If your results are concerning, we recommend you meet with a private doctor or your GP to further discuss the results and next steps. Better2Know offers services that can help arrange these consultations with our network of skilled healthcare professionals in your area. Further testing or investigation may be necessary.

Q: When will you send my kit to me?

If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.

Q: Why do you need my email address?

Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.

Q: Do I need to use my real name?

No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.

Q: What does the kit packaging look like?

It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.
