Which STIs does the Platinum Screen test for?
The Better2Know Platinum Screen is our most comprehensive home testing option and will identify the following infections:
- HIV
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhoea
- Syphilis
- Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis C
- Herpes I/II
- Trichomonas
- Gardnerella
- Mycoplasma
- Ureaplasma
Is the Platinum Screen accurate?
Yes, all our home tests and screens are CE marked and Better2Know’s pathology is performed in our highly accredited laboratory to ensure the most accurate results.
The HIV test included in this screen is the Better2Know 28 Day DUO test. This testing option looks for both the p24 antigen, an early marker of an HIV infection, and antibodies for HIV I and II, which is the body’s reaction to the retrovirus. The test is 99.8% accurate at 28 days of incubation, increasing to 99.9% at 90 days.
How does this STI screen work?
After you have ordered your home testing kit, we will post it to an address of your choice. The packaging is plain to ensure absolute confidentiality. Inside your kit, you will find a Better2Know pathology form, a small gold topped tube, a urine collection tube, three finger prick lancets, wipes and a postage paid return envelope. We will also send you instructions on how to collect your samples. It is important that you follow these carefully.
When will my test arrive?
If you order your sample collection kit before 4pm, Monday to Friday, we will post it to you on the very same day. Depending on your location in Ireland, your home test kit should arrive within two to three working days.
How long before I get my results?
Your results will be available no more than two working days after our certified laboratory has received your samples. Some results may be ready sooner than others and you can monitor their progress online by logging in to our secure patient area 24/7. You will also be contacted by a sexual health advisor once all your results become available.
What does my result mean?
If your results are positive for Syphilis or HIV, you should visit a doctor to discuss confirmation testing and any treatment, or if any further testing that should be done. This test cannot distinguish between a past and current or new infection and so you would need to have a confirmation test. Better2Know can connect you with a private doctor in your local area, or you can visit your own GP.
Is testing for STIs through Better2Know confidential?
The patient details you provide, as well as your results, remain completely confidential. We will not inform your doctor or any other third party without your permission, unless we are required to so by law.
How long should I wait after an encounter before getting the Platinum Screen?
You should wait at least 28 days after an incident of concern before getting the Platinum Screen home test. Testing before this time may reduce the accuracy of your results.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When will you send my kit to me?
If your order is placed before 4pm on a working day, then it will be sent the same day. Otherwise it will be sent on the next working day.
Q: Why do you need my email address?
Your Patient Services Manager, Louise Wright, will email you your login details to access your results, a confirmation your kit has been dispatched and finally when all your results are ready. We do not sell on or email you any other marketing materials, that is why we do not ask you to opt in or out of anything.
Q: Do I need to use my real name?
No, but the postman does need to know where to deliver the kit to. As long as you use a name that will get the kit to you, then we do not need your real name.
Q: What does the kit packaging look like?
It will arrive in plain white envelope with your typed name and address on it.
Q: What if I have any more questions?
You can email Louise by replying to one of the emails she has sent to you. She will do her best to answer them.
